One of the things I liked most about going to Alaska was seeing glaciers. These massive ice sheets represent the magnificent power of nature, and at the same time, its fragility. Sailing in front of these beauties in Glacier Bay was awe inspiring. I have started to put one impressions on paper in the form of woodblock prints. A small print, titled "Midnight Sun" was intended for use as a card. The larger "World of Ice" (9 x 12") is, hopefully, the first of a series of blocks and paintings inspired by Alaskan scenery. We always seemed to be on the go while travelling in Alaska - either on the bus, train or even walking. But there were some quiet moments when I was able to take out the watercolours and do some quick sketches - that I hope may become paintings in some near future.
